Anglie Jolie & Disney Make Maleficent Magic Come To Life....

Angelina Jolie never made bad look so good.  In the Disney fairy tale universe, stories like Sleepy Beauty have always been told with clear cut heroes and villians.

Maleficent is not so black and white in its character delvelopment...which is quite refreshing actually.  Only an actress with the subtle comedic nuances, coupled with rich dramatic depths possessed by Jolie, could so effortlessly pull off the role of the sympethetic villan who experiences a Dickens like Scrooge change of heart even before the film's end.

Maleficent also features Jolie's own daughter Vivianne as young Princess Aurora, who was casted in the brief role primarily because she was the only child who could bare to see Jolie in full Maleficent regalia (horns and all).

Disney's Maleficent is a must see for all ages.

My only critique is with Disney's choice to go with a traller that was much darker than the movie itself.  While I woildnt recommend the film for childrem under the ages of 6, my 9 year old son (soon to be 10 in two weeks) absolutely loved Maleficent and felt most kids in his age range would as well.  Tres Chic Style gives Maleficent 4 out 5 stars and believes that Jolie may very well have Oscar gold in her fairy tale future...for playing Disney's most unlikely heroine ever.

Cowabunga Bay Opens May 24, 2014

Cowabunga Bay Opens May 24, 2014

Park Description

Cowabunga Bay takes its design and inspiration from the fun and whimsical surf and beach scene of the 1950’s and 60’s. The park will be divided up into three surf themed areas:

“Aloha Shores” captures the easy-breezy attitude of the Hawaiian Islands as well as the thrilling beach scene. Cowabunga Kids Cove is an area built especially for our younger guests full of exciting water features, pools and water slides.  Beach Blanket Bingo is the perfect family adventure, 4 guests can ride the twist, turns and drops of this giant water slide.  Next up is a Cowabunga Bay original.  The "Wild Surf" is a slide designed exclusively for our park and will feature a 4-person raft that will speed up and down the course of a giant man-made wave.

“Surf City U.S.A.” Frankie, Annette, Gidget and the rest of the gang invite you to hang loose in this sunny-seaside surf town.  It's all the fun and adventure you would expect from the 1960’s beach scene.  It’s also home to two of Cowabunga Bay’s largest attractions.  Set inside the Surf-a-Rama Drive In is our 35,000 square foot wave pool. Challenge your friends to a 6-lane, downhill-uphill race on Surfin' USA and opening in 2014, “Cowabunga Splash." A giant six-story water playground with hundreds of interactive water toys, water slides and two giant tipping buckets that will create the World’s Biggest Splash!

“Boardwalk Beach” rounds out the three parks distinct areas of the park and is home to "Cowabunga River" a 1,200 foot long surfing-safri lazy river, the relaxing "Boardwalk Bay" and a unique collection of water slides including the 75' tall "Zuma-ZOOMa"  a thrilling, high-speed launched, horizontal looping water slide.

All together Cowabunga Bay will feature more than 25 water slides and attractions. Delicious food items such as Pizza, Burgers, Sandwiches and Wraps will be featured in two park restaurants.  VIP Cabanas will be available to those who wish have their own shaded space along with a friendly Cowabunga Bay server to take care of their every needs.

In Chic Vegas News: The Cromwell Opens Spring 2014....

IT'S OFFICIAL! LAS VEGAS' COOLEST BOUTIQUE HOTEL IS THE CROMWELL

The mysterious hotel positioned at the intersection of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard has been officially christened The Cromwell. Currently under construction, the boutique hotel’s name foreshadows its sophisticated vibe and lavish aesthetic. As the newest luxury lifestyle boutique hotel and casino on the Strip, The Cromwell is poised to raise the stakes.

With the teasing name unveiled, the real fun begins.

The Cromwell is scheduled to open this Spring, (just in time for patio dining and pool season, of course.) Total Rewards members can book a room starting Feb. 21. Three days later,  rooms are available to the general public. Everyone is encouraged to sign up to stay on top of the latest Cromwell news.

Giada De Laurentiis and Victor Drai are star anchors, and construction is well underway on Giada's two-story restaurant masterpiece and Drai's three daylife/nightlife venues.

Chef and Food Network celebrity De Laurentiis will debut her Italian recipe favorites in a beautiful, airy dining room which she says will feature an antipasto bar. With warm colors and natural lighting thanks to huge Strip-front windows, she’s currently previewing dishes and designing the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Drai will launch his cult favorite Drai’s After Hours (temporarily moved to Bally’s for now), along with his first-ever beach club and adjoining nightclub space - on the hotel’s roof, no less.

A casino, night swim parties (we hope!) and center-Strip rooftop views? Take me to The Cromwell.

O’Sheas Casino Officially Returns to the Las Vegas Strip...

O’Sheas Casino, a Las Vegas Strip classic, re-opened its doors on December 27th at the much anticipated new location inside The Quad Resort & Casino. Bally’s Las Vegas Jubilee! Showgirls, The Quad’s headliner, Jeff Civillico, and Mr. Lucky himself, Brian Thomas, were all there to help welcome the venue’s first guests.

The opening featured an official ribbon cutting by Eileen Moore, Regional President and General Manager of The Quad Resort & Casino. An eager crowd full of O’Sheas’ faithful, old and new, packed the bar to commemorate the special day.

“May your pockets be heavy— your heart be light,” recited Thomas to the O’Sheas faithful, “And may good luck pursue you at O’Sheas, each morning, afternoon and night.”

After a 23-year reign on the Las Vegas Strip, the original O’Sheas closed in the spring of 2012 to make room for The LINQ, Caesars Entertainment’s $550 million outdoor retail, dining and entertainment district. The original O’Sheas enjoyed a strong following and was beloved by tourists and locals alike. The reimagined space features elements of the original Strip-side casino where guests will once again be able to enjoy blackjack, beer pong and live entertainment in a welcoming and fun environment.

Guests at the ceremony celebrated with custom hats, beads and commemorative beer mugs. In traditional O’Sheas spirit, the festivities continued with a beer pong match between Thomas and The Quad’s headliner Jeff Civillico, who took the win.

Not shy of the spotlight, the original O’Sheas was featured on the big screen and even the Guinness World Book of Records. Popular rock band, Imagine Dragons, began their thriving career at O’Sheas while “Vegas Vacation” starring Chevy Chase took O’Sheas to the big screen. In 2001, the bar set a world record for the largest nationwide toast in history.

Although the brand new location offers a fresh start, the original O’Sheas is deeply rooted in the architecture .The original marquee has been refurbished and stands at The LINQ side entrance, while a hand-painted mural of the first O’Sheas adorns the Lucky Bar, and iconic hammered-tin ceiling tiles serve as a decorative finish on the acoustic panels throughout the space.

While keeping the traditional Irish roots alive, O’Sheas provides daily entertainment including live bands, Disc Jockeys and an interactive juke box to please every crowd. The 5,000-square foot space houses 11 table games, 15 video poker spaces, six beer pong tables, and three bars – Lucky Bar, Dublin Up Bar and the outdoor Blarney Bar. With value-priced drinks available all day long, including the house specialty, the whiskey-infused Irish Margarita, $3 draft beers and daily drink specials, O’Sheas will once again be the most beloved Irish-themed casino and bars on the Las Vegas Strip.
